For many years, Somalia experienced a number of natural and human disasters, including famine, spread of diseases, starvation, civil war and anarchy. These problems have had devastating impacts on the lives of the communities in Somalia. All public institutions and agencies that used to provide public services and development were completely destroyed by the 20-year old civil war and the continued political anarchy.
